David Edward Harmon assumed the position of chair of the art department and professor of art in 2012. Harmon teaches drawing, painting, art appreciation, art history and a number of other studio courses. He received a calling as an artist at a very young age when he saw the work of Vincent Van Gogh at the City Art Museum in St. Louis, Missouri. He is an experienced artist and educator, having worked in several private and public institutions over the past 32 years including Bethel College-Indiana, University of Arizona, The University of Southern Mississippi, The State University of New York and the Savannah College of Art and Design. He received his MFA degree from the School of Visual Art at Penn State University, University Park, Penn., and his BFA from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has had well over 130 art exhibitions of his work as a painter. Harmon has his work in many private and public collections. He frequently juries art exhibitions and presents panel presentations on a variety of art topics in Houston, New York City and San Antonio.
Tim Cooper serves as instructor of multimedia communication and Computer Information Systems. He teaches graphic design for the Department of Art.
Julie Mize is an adjunct instructor of photography. She received her MAE from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and her BA in studio art from Howard Payne University. Mize is also a secondary school art teacher in the Brownwood ISD.
