Howard Payne University’s Mobile Go Center (MGC) provides college-going resources to primarily high school individuals and their families and ultimately increases the number of students enrolled and succeeding in higher education programs in Texas. The MGC project is an extension of the College for All Texans Campaign’s broad efforts to achieve the participation and success goals of “Closing the Gaps by 2015.” The MGC was made possible through a grant from the Texas Pioneer Foundation.
The MGC is a 42-foot trailer towed behind a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Crew Cab. Its purpose is to support outreach and information delivery to students, families, community members and religious organizations. The MGC assists in the recruitment efforts of the Office of Admission and increases higher education awareness throughout the state.
The MGC is fully equipped with two air conditioners/heaters, 17 laptop computers and a satellite Internet connection for wireless connectivity. The MGC is able to visit high schools, middle schools, community events, festivals, churches and youth events. The MGC provides a setting in which students, families and community members feel comfortable in asking questions and receiving assistance in the initial process of college preparation.
