Applying for Institutional Financial Aid
Applying for admission is the first step in the financial aid process. At Howard Payne University, students can apply either online or by paper application. Financial aid cannot be awarded until a student has been admitted to the university. When students apply for admission, they will be automatically considered for one of our Academic Scholarships.
Applying for State and Federal Financial Aid
While not required, all students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility for state and federal financial aid funds as well as some institutional scholarships. Students may apply online each year at www.fafsa.gov after the first of January for the upcoming year. Information needed to file the FAFSA is found using the student and parent previous year tax returns and W-2 forms. Parents and students must both sign the application. When applying online, students can electronically sign the application by using a PIN number. A PIN number can be acquired through www.pin.ed.gov. Remember, you cannot complete this form before January 1 of your senior year in high school.
Howard Payne’s school code is 003575. The priority date to apply for the FAFSA is March 15.
Admission & Scholarship Policy Related to the New SAT
At Howard Payne University, decisions regarding admission and academic scholarships will be based on the combination of the Math and the Critical Reading sections of the exam. Thus, the Writing section and the Essay section will not be considered in determining automatic admission to the University.
