General Studies

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in General Studies degree is intended for students interested in a broad, general program for personal enrichment. The General Studies major is acceptable in settings that may not require specific traditional degrees.

The General Studies major requires 40 junior-senior level semester hours. A maximum of twenty-one hours may be earned in any one department.

General Education Requirements: 45 hours
Major Degree Requirements: 40 hours in junior-senior level courses
Optional Minor: 18-24 hours
Electives (with optional minor): 15-21 hours
Electives (without optional minor): 39 hours
Total Degree Requirements: 124 hours

Note:

  • A Maximum of 21 hours may be earned in any one department.
  • Students are required to complete a minimum of 32 hours through HPU.
  • A minimum of 12 advanced HPU hours must be earned in the student’s major.
