BROWNWOOD – November 13, 2017 – Chassidy Holloway, a graduate from Howard Payne University’s Master of Education in Sport and Wellness Leadership (SWELL) degree program, has been named director of sport administration for the Midwest Conference. The athletic conference is affiliated with the NCAA’s Division III and member institutions are located in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.
Holloway, originally from LaFayette, Alabama, graduated from HPU in May 2017. She said the program, and being a part of HPU’s athletic culture, gave her the opportunities she needed to be a well-rounded applicant when applying for jobs.
“I think that the SWELL program and working with HPU women’s basketball helped me to develop a unique skill set that I am now able to use in my position with the Midwest Conference,” she said. “Not only did I develop confidence in my ability to succeed in the sport industry but there were significant contributions to my personal and spiritual growth that I attribute to my time at HPU. Howard Payne has a special place in my heart and I am blessed to have been welcomed with open arms.”
The SWELL program at HPU seeks to prepare future leaders for the $4-trillion sport and wellness industries. SWELL is a two-year cohort program that currently consists of night classes. Courses include instruction in event planning, public relations, legal foundations, leadership and more.
HPU is working to offer more of the SWELL coursework in online and distance-learning formats to give students outside of the Brownwood area an opportunity to join a cohort. The coursework and HPU’s Christ-centered academic community make the affordable SWELL program a unique offering among master’s programs in the United States.
