Dr. Lanny Hall is the 18th president of Howard Payne University, serving as president since March 1, 2003. Prior to coming to HPU, Hall was Chancellor of Hardin-Simmons University 2001-2003 and President from 1991-2001. He served as President of Wayland Baptist University 1989-1991. From 1986 to 1989 Hall served as Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at HPU.
During Dr. Hall’s 34 year career in government and education, he has served as a public school teacher, a Congressional aide, special assistant to the U.S. House Majority Leader, a lobbyist, a businessman and a three term member of the Texas House of Representatives (1979-1984.)
Hall is married to the former Carol Bardin, who has a B.S. degree from the University of North Texas in 1970 and a M.Ed. In 1973. The Halls have two children, Lana and Chad.
