Deep in the heart of Texas…Howard Payne University is one of the oldest universities in the state of Texas. HPU is a school rich with tradition, academic excellence mixed with cutting edge technology. Howard Payne University is centrally located close to most major cities; only two hours from Ft. Worth and two in a half from Austin.
Hitting the books… There are more than 50 majors, minors and pre- professional programs offered at HPU, including the nationally recognized Douglas Mac Arthur Academy of Freedom; an honors program and the only one of its kind in the United States. Howard Payne students have a 99 percent acceptance rate to medical school and a 100 percent acceptance rate to law school.
Beyond the classroom… More than 45 organizations offer students the opportunity to participate in campus life. These include honor societies, social-service sororities and fraternities, the BSM, ministry groups, intercollegiate athletics and intramural sports. With study abroad programs, students take their learning outside of the classroom, to countries like Mexico, England and Turkey.
We’ve got spirit… The NCAA Division III Yellow Jackets are tearing up the field, courts and tracks this season. HPU students come from around Texas and the United States to compete nationally in 12 diferent varsity teams. This year the Lady Jacket basketball team is the 2008 NCAA III National Champs. On campus, fifty percent of HPU students participate in a variety of intramural sports.
