The Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in business administration prepares students for supervisory and management careers, teaching business fields at the secondary level, and for graduate school. Students seeking the B.B.A. degree are required to take a 30 semester hour business core which consists of courses in accounting, business, finance, marketing, and management. In addition, students must complete 27 semester hours in a specialization.
HPU also offers the Bachelor of Science degree in business administration or computer information systems. This degree allows students to minor in a field outside the business field. This program prepares students for careers which require study in multiple disciplines and provides a broad background for graduate school.

Accreditation Howard Payne University has received specialized accreditation for its business and business related programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), located in Olathe, Kansas. Academic Achievement Each year, several graduates from HPU's School of Business Administration rank in the top 10 percent in the nation as determined by the major field test in business conducted by Educational Testing Services. HPU graduates consistently achieve success on the CPA exam, the state teacher certification exam and the GMAT. Approximately 25 percent of graduates from the School of Business Administration pursue graduate study.

Beyond the Classroom Internship opportunities are available in accounting, business administration, and computer information systems. Internship sites are mutually agreed upon between students and their advisors. Students are encouraged to plan for an internship with a prospective employer during the summer prior to their senior year. Students may also serve in HPU's award-winning Phi Beta Lambda chapter where students have recently received national recognition for excellence in team building and program planning.
International Business Students interested in international business may complete an interdisciplinary program of study which includes nine credit hours of international business coursework and nine credit hours of international culture and/or foreign language courses. Students also complete an international experience, which may come from studying abroad, an international student exchange program or any other extensive international experience.
Honors Program Students in the School of Business Administration may choose to apply for admission to the Academy of Freedom multidisciplinary honors program. Providing an innovative approach to the academic program, the Academy enables students to combine their specialized major with coursework grounded in an understanding of the American free enterprise system. Through advanced study in such areas political science, history, psychology and sociology, students gain a better understanding of their role in today's society. Challenging projects enable students to hone their research and writing skills for further study in graduate school.
