<< BackYoung Scholars and Summer Scholars programs have largest enrollment ever
Howard Payne University's Young Scholars and Summer Scholars programs ran the week of July 18 with 77 children participating, the largest group in the history of the annual programs.
The programs are designed to provide intense, fun and academically stimulating summer camp programming for children entering grades 1-6. The goal is to challenge school-age children academically and expose them to the HPU campus and academic environment.
"These two programs are for every child — regardless of his or her academic level," said Dr. Julie Welker, professor of communication at HPU. "We want kids to come to our campus and experience learning in a fun and innovative way."
Young Scholars is a program for children entering grades 1-3, featuring innovative instruction in reading, music, science, physical education and sign language. Summer Scholars, for children entering grades 4-6, offers activities in computer graphics, reading, science and physical education.
