Scholarships offered for HPU’s Master of Education program
BROWNWOOD – October 10, 2011 – Howard Payne University is announcing a new scholarship for students entering the Master of Education in Instructional Leadership program through HPU’s School of Education. The scholarship, at the highest award level, would cut tuition for the program almost in half.
The master’s program provides preparation for those who wish to become certified principals in Texas. Instruction for the 36-hour, non-thesis degree is delivered entirely online, and traditional residency at the university is not required.
The program, designed to work around busy schedules, can be completed in as little as 22 months, and students may enter the program at any time throughout the year.
“With the scholarships included, our tuition is now more affordable than most private universities and state-supported brick and mortar institutions, and competitive with state-supported institutions offering similar online programs,” said Dr. Joe Robinson, associate professor of education and director of the program. “Our program meets the standards established by the State Board of Educator Certification and is delivered from a Christian worldview. These characteristics distinguish the program and set it apart from others.
“Furthermore,” he added, “our program is personalized as few others are, and the number of enrollees we will accept is purposefully limited. We do not know what impact the scholarships will have on enrollment, but we hope and expect the interest to be high and the available enrollment space to quickly fill.”
