BROWNWOOD, Texas – Head women’s basketball coach Chris Kielsmeier announced today that he will be leaving Howard Payne University to take the head women’s basketball coaching position at NCAA Division II Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

W. BASKETBALL - Collins Pulls Down 500th, Jackets Blow Past Top Ranked...
BROWNWOOD, TX…Kami Collins (Amarillo, TX/Tascoso) recorded her 500th career rebound and seventh double-double of the year in the Lady Jackets (19-3/16-3 ASC) 68-50 victory over Hardin-Simmons (18-3/16-3 ASC) Thursday night in the Brownwood Coliseum. Collins finished the game with 17 points and 17 rebounds, both game-highs.

W. BASKETBALL - Lady Jackets Sweep UMHB to Get Back on Winning Track
BROWNWOOD, TX…Led by the second half performance of Meia Daniels (Ft. Worth, TX/Fossil Ridge HS) the Howard Payne Lady Jackets (17-3/14-3 ASC) defeated the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders women’s basketball team (11-8/9-7 ASC) in the inaugural game played at the Mayborn Campus Center. BROWNWOOD, TX…Howard Payne University Lady Jackets’ (16-3/13-3 ASC) five game winning streak in the ASC-West Division was snapped Saturday afternoon when the Tornadoes from Concordia-Austin (12-6/11-4 ASC) walked off the Brownwood Coliseum floor with a 72-67 victory. ABILENE, TX…After suffering their second loss of the year on Thursday the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets (12-2/9-2 ASC-W) responded in a big way with 72-55 blow out win against the Indians of McMurry University (11-3/10-1 ASC-W). The outstanding shooting performance in the first half by the Jackets gave them a 48-29 cushion going into halftime, a lead they would not surrender. Meia Daniels (Ft. Worth, TX) led HPU with 15 points, all from beyond the three-point arc.

BROWNWOOD, TX…An offensive explosion coupled with a stiff defense led to the Howard Payne women’s basketball team (8-0/6-0 ASC) to their eighth straight win Saturday afternoon over LeTourneau University (1-8/1-5 ASC). The 101-41 victory was the largest margin of victory for the Jackets this season. Meia Daniels (Ft. Worth, TX) poured in a season high 19 points and 11 rebounds. This was the seventh consecutive game she has scored in double figures.

BROWNWOOD, TX…Led by the play of JR FWD Angie Evans (Clifton, TX), the HPU women’s basketball team began their season with back-to-back wins over Wittenberg (63-53) and Southwestern (73-55). Evans averaged 13.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, earning her MVP honors in the weekend tournament.
