(Top 10% at an Accredited High School or 3.80 GPA) AND (ACT of
29 OR SAT I of 1300 (Mathematics & Critical Reading Combined)) 3.25
Cumulative GPA required for renewal. A maximum of 5 awards
will be made and an interview with the Director of the Academy is required. Determination will be made by February
15th. Academy Scholar awards may be
comprised from a combination of institutional and Academy scholarship
sources.

Reference Evaluation Form

to each field. When you are finished, you can submit the application
electronically or print off the form and return it through the mail or
by fax to (325) 649-8923.
In addition to the application, you must print two Reference Evaluation
Forms and have your references (both must be academic) complete and
return the form by mail or fax.
Deadlines: Please note that only twenty-five students will be admitted each year. The priority deadline for applications is February 1. All applicants must be interviewed by the Academy Admissions Committee. Decisions will be made by February 15. Students must preschedule classes by June 15 to hold their slot.
Applications received after February 1 will be considered if the 25
available slots are not filled by students meeting the priority
deadline. Once all slots are filled remaining applicants will be
interviewed and placed on a waiting list in case slots become available.
HATTON W. SUMNERS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
(College Juniors and Seniors)
The Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship provides $5,500 per semester for four semester. The Sumners Scholarship is in addition to university scholarships that current HPU students receive or transfer students are eligible to receive and replaces the Academy scholarships of current Academy students. If the combined package of university scholarships and the Sumners Scholarship exceeds tuition, the excess can be applied toward fees, books, and room and board. The Academy Admissions Committee will nominate up to 12 applicants to be interviewed by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation Trustees, who will determine the number of recipients each year. Requirements: 3.25 cumulative GPA, 60 hours completed by the start of the following fall semester, and admission to Howard Payne University.

You will also need to have four references, two of whom must be professors currently familiar with your academic performance, complete the recommendation form and attach it to a formal letter of recommendation. In addition, you will need to complete the required autobiographical essay and provide a formal resume.
