The Department of Art offers the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in art communication and art education.
Major The art communication major, which requires 36 semester hours, combines a core of traditional art courses with courses in computer graphics.
Minors Students majoring in art communication are required to develop a related minor consisting of a total of 18 semester hours in television, public relations, and marketing courses. Students seeking a traditional minor in art should take 24 semester hours of art courses.
Teacher Certification Teacher certification is available in art.

Beyond the Classroom The department hosts exhibits each year, enabling students to display drawings, paintings, and photographs for university and community art enthusiasts. A field trip each semester gives students a chance to visit the Southwest's major art museums and exhibits.
Honors Program Art Communication majors may choose to apply for admission to the Academy of Freedom multidisciplinary honors program. Providing an innovative approach to the academic program, the Academy enables students to combine their specialized major with coursework grounded in an understanding of the American free enterprise system. Through advanced study in such areas political science, history, psychology, and sociology, students gain a better understanding of their role in today's society. Challenging projects enable students to hone their research and writing skills for further study in graduate school.
Scholarships The Department of Art provides scholarships and work opportunities to qualified students every semester. Positions are available to assist faculty members and serve as a computer lab assistant.
