HPU has wireless access in the dormitories, apartments, classrooms and other areas on campus where students may gather. If you are purchasing a laptop, tablet device, or smart phone please be certain it has WPA2-Enterprise capability. Authentication will be required to access the campus wireless; however, there will be some configuration required on wireless devices before your HPU user credentials will be accepted for connection.
NOTE FOR STUDENTS: We ask that you NOT bring wireless access points or routers with you to campus. We also ask that you do not bring wireless printers, or that you disable the wireless feature on these devices once you arrive.
When on campus, you will see two available wireless networks.
Jackets – This is a secure wireless network for the use of students, faculty, and staff. For this reason, only devices that can connect wirelessly with strong security and encryption are supported on the campus wireless. Connecting to this network will require configuration of a wireless profile using the instructions for your specific operating system. These can be found in HPU Gateway on the IT Services information site (Menu -> IT Services -> Student Resources). You may also bring your device to the Information Technology Services offices for configuration assistance.
HPU_Guest – This network provides Internet access only for true guests of the university via a less secure form of authentication used in public locations. Once connected to this wireless network, you will be prompted for a username and password which can be obtained from a building supervisor or by contacting IT Services.
