Message from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Education at Howard Payne University! We house three unique yet interrelated academic departments: Educator Preparation, Athletic Training, and Kinesiology. Each of these departments offers undergraduate programs. Kinesiology also offers a graduate program in Sport and Wellness Leadership. Whether you want to be a personal or athletic trainer, coach, principal, or teacher, the HPU School of Education is the right place for you.
In the Bible, Luke tells us that “Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” Intellectual, physical, spiritual and social growth are all foundational aspects of a healthy life. Pursuing a degree in the School of Education stimulates personal growth that prepares you to lead others on paths of learning and development, setting the trajectory for your successful career.
Coursework within the School of Education is designed to help you develop into an outstanding educator. Whether you are teaching clients about their health and wellness, or students and faculty in public or private schools, you are serving as an educator. It is an amazing opportunity and responsibility! Graduates of the School of Education go on to powerfully impact businesses, schools, and communities.
In light of the current teacher shortage in Texas and across the United States and the increasing interest in physical activity in our society, now is a great time to join us in the School of Education. Our 21st century society needs great coaches, principals, trainers, and educators empowered with the knowledge and skills to impact the broad range of learners.
Think of people who have made the greatest impact in your life. You probably thought of an educator who invested in you. Now it’s your turn to make the investment in others. Come join the HPU School of Education, where you will find faculty, staff, and students who share your passion and purpose on this journey to better yourself and world.
Equip, Innovate, Empower,
Dr. Kylah Clark-Goff
