Joseph Dunlap holds a B.A. in Music with a concentration in piano from Howard Payne University, and a M.M. in Music Theory & Composition from Hardin-Simmons University. He began teaching at HPU during the fall of 2015 and teaches all of the music theory, ear training, and class piano curricula.
Mr. Dunlap is an award-winning composer and skilled arranger. In addition to extensive experience as a collaborative pianist, he is also proficient in brass instruments, particularly low brass, and percussion. He marched low brass and marimba in DCI, and served as a front ensemble instructor for two years. As a student, alumnus, and faculty, Mr. Dunlap has been involved with most HPU music ensembles: Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Community Band, Jazz Ensemble, Winds of Triumph, Concert Choir, Heritage, Percussion Ensemble, and Trombone Choir.
