"Dr. Tracy challenged me as a mid-term entry at Howard Payne College in Spring Semester, 1970 with a written comment on a blue book test with these words, ‘Let me demand excellency of you.’ I had received a C+ on the exam and was really discouraged. However, that challenge instilled in me a need to trust in God and study harder. As records will show, I completed my degree requirements in December 1973 with Honors. The challenge of ‘demanding excellency’ that Dr. Tracey charged me with has remained with me throughout many struggles in life and will remain with me forever."
