HPU undergraduates have the choice of four age ranges for certification: Elementary, Middle School, High School, and All Level. The content areas for certification within those ages are listed below.

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree: Elementary (Early Childhood-6th grade)

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree: Middle School: Grade 4-8 with Certification in the following teaching fields:
English Language Arts and Reading or
Mathematics or
Science or
Social Studies or

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree: High School: Grades 6, 7, or 8 – grade 12 with Certification in the following teaching fields:
Technology Applications or
English Language Arts and Reading or
History or
Life Science or
Mathematics or
Physical Science or
Social Studies Composite or
Speech Communication

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree: All Level: Early Childhood – grade 12 with Certification in the following teaching fields:
Music Education – Instrumental or Choral
