Keep going: There’s light at the end of the tunnel

By Pablo Preciado | Professor Nelda Valerio joined Howard Payne University in the El Paso Campus three years ago and has taught three semesters, including the spring semester of 2019.

She started teaching project management at HPU, and this semester is teaching introduction to Information Technology. Valerio also teaches at Immanuel Christian School in El Paso where she focuses on teaching high school students information technology.

“When I came to Howard Payne there were over 250 students, and even at that it was still close, it was still a very tight family with that many students,” said Valerio. “We are all a tight knit family, and everything gets more personal.”

Valerio teaches her classes through compassion and speaks through experience of working in business when teaching the subject of Information Technology. She and her student start and close each class with a heartwarming prayer and sets the mood of positivity and enriched learning. No question is left unanswered and no student is left confused or lost in the subject of computer science.
