Henry Schrader serves as an Associate Professor of Marketing at Howard Payne University. With more than 25 years of teaching experience, Schrader brings extensive knowledge of marketing, management, international business, business law, and digital strategy to his work with students. His teaching reflects a strong commitment to practical business education, student development, and the integration of Christian faith into the classroom.
Schrader teaches a broad range of courses, including International Business, Marketing Management, Promotional Strategies, Graduate Marketing Management, Management, Legal Environment of Business, and Digital Marketing. Of these courses, Marketing Management is his favorite to teach. He enjoys helping students understand how marketing decisions influence organizations, customers, and communities and how those decisions can be approached with both strategic thinking and ethical responsibility.
One of the aspects Schrader values most about teaching at HPU is the opportunity to work closely with students while freely integrating his Christian faith into the learning experience. He appreciates being part of an environment where faith and academics can work together and where students are encouraged to consider not only how to succeed professionally, but also how to lead with integrity and purpose.
Schrader also values the relationships he has with his colleagues and the university’s strong focus on students. He enjoys working alongside faculty and staff who are committed to helping students succeed and appreciates being part of a community where education is personal, relational, and focused on long-term growth.
His passion for marketing and business education comes from the widespread influence these fields have on everyday life. Schrader believes marketing affects nearly everyone in some way, from the products people purchase to the organizations they support and the messages they encounter daily. Because of that influence, he believes there is an important need for Christian business professionals who can bring ethical judgment, responsibility, and a service-oriented mindset into the marketplace.
Schrader holds a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration, and a Doctorate of Business Administration. His academic background combines business expertise with biblical studies, supporting his approach to integrating faith and professional preparation in the classroom.
His scholarly and professional work includes the article “The Importance of Relationship Marketing Education: The Fifth P,” published in the Journal Teaching with Compassion, Competence, Commitment. He also contributed a Millennial Generation case study for a Cengage Publishing textbook and authored Global Marketing as an iBook in 2019.
Outside of the classroom, Schrader enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, visiting the beach, reading, watching movies, attending festivals, and exploring auctions and antique stores. He and his wife, Martina, have three children: Nicole, Olivia, and Logan. As a newer member of the area, he is currently visiting churches as he looks for a church home.
Through teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and faith, Schrader seeks to prepare students to become thoughtful, ethical, and capable business professionals who can make a positive impact in the marketplace and beyond.
