Seek First His Kingdom: Lord, Transform our Minds

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Romans 12:2
God, transform our minds in Christ Jesus. Help us conquer negative thoughts and resist temptation.  Shield our minds from evil. Fill us with your wisdom; help us know your plans and desires for us.

About our prayer ministry

Howard Payne’s Prayer Ministry is dedicated to promoting a culture of prayer within our student body, faculty and staff, alumni, family, and friends.  We are a community of believers seeking God together through prayer. We pray with each other and for each other. 
Through prayer, we grow in relationship with God, we discern His will for us, and we invite Him to work through us.
We are confident God will faithfully work among us and through us when our prayers honor Him and seek His kingdom above all else.

Our prayer director

Megan Key serves as Howard Payne’s Director of Prayer Ministry. She holds a Master of Arts in Religion with emphases in worship and mission from B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary. She also holds a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from Baylor University. She is thrilled to serve at Howard Payne where her passion for spiritual formation and love of education meet. 
Megan and her family live in Early, where her husband, Larry, is pastor of Early First Baptist Church. They have three sons: Logan is a Howard Payne student; Joshua and Matthew attend Early High School. Prior to their time in Early, the Key family lived and worked among the Oromo people of Ethiopia in church planting and clean water development.
When not on the HPU campus, Megan loves spending time with her family, investing in her church, and serving on mission. In her free time, she enjoys singing, reading, running, and spending time outdoors.

Services

The Howard Payne University Prayer Ministry Office will provide:

  • Prayer Requests – Students, faculty, and staff can submit personal prayer requests.
  • Personal Prayer Support – Opportunities to pray individually with members of the ministry.
  • Prayer Space – A dedicated place for personal prayer, reflection, and small group prayer.
  • Campus Prayer Gatherings – Organized times to pray together for HPU and the surrounding community.
  • Campus Intercession – Ongoing prayer for students, faculty, staff, leadership, departments, athletics, and university needs.
  • Prayer Resources – Scripture, devotionals, prayer guides, and other resources to help develop a stronger prayer life.

What is prayer ministry?

The Prayer Ministry at Howard Payne University seeks to cultivate a campus community committed to intentional, Christ-centered prayer. Through prayer gatherings, coordinated prayer efforts and opportunities to pray for one another, the ministry supports the spiritual growth and well-being of students, faculty, staff and the broader university community. Rooted in faith, community and service, the Prayer Ministry encourages the Howard Payne family to seek God’s guidance, lift up one another, and faithfully live out our Christian calling.

The Howard Payne University Prayer Ministry provides opportunities for our community to come together in faith and seek God through intentional prayer. Students, faculty and staff can expect regular opportunities to pray for one another, our university, our leaders and the needs of our campus and community.

Through prayer gatherings and coordinated prayer efforts, the ministry seeks to foster a culture where prayer is woven into the life of the university. Whether you participate by praying aloud, praying alongside others, or simply spending time in quiet reflection, you are invited to be part of a community seeking God’s wisdom, guidance and presence.

Above all, the Prayer Ministry is a place to come together as the Howard Payne family; to pray, encourage one another and faithfully seek God’s will for our university and its community.
