Jennifer McNiece serves as an Assistant Professor of Management in Howard Payne University’s School of Business. An alumna of HPU, McNiece brings both a strong academic background and a personal connection to the university community. She began teaching in 2007 and has served full-time at Howard Payne University since 2009.
McNiece teaches courses related to business, economics, and politics. In the classroom, she is committed to making complex ideas accessible and approachable for students while also encouraging them to push beyond what they may initially believe they are capable of achieving. She places a strong emphasis on helping students understand how the concepts they study connect to real-world situations, giving them practical context for the material they encounter in class.
As an HPU graduate herself, McNiece has a unique appreciation for the student experience at Howard Payne. She values the opportunity to meet and work with each new generation of Yellow Jackets and understands how formative the college years can be. For her, teaching at HPU is not only about academic instruction but also about helping students establish a strong foundation for their future careers, relationships, and personal growth.
One of the aspects McNiece values most about working at HPU is the university’s community of educators. She appreciates being surrounded by colleagues who share a clear mission and a commitment to serving students well. She views the work of educating and mentoring students at HPU as a meaningful calling and values being part of a faculty and staff community that works together toward that purpose.
McNiece earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Howard Payne University and is also a graduate of the university’s Academy program. She later earned both a Master of Arts in Economics and a Master of Public Administration from Texas Tech University. She continued her education by earning a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Northcentral University. Her academic background across English, economics, public administration, and business gives her a broad perspective that supports her interdisciplinary approach to teaching.
Outside of the classroom, McNiece remains closely connected to the Brownwood community. Her undergraduate studies in English helped foster a lifelong love of reading, which continues to be one of her favorite activities. She also enjoys serving the local community through volunteer work, particularly with the Brownwood Lyric Theatre.
McNiece is involved with Brownwood Methodist and values opportunities to engage with others both on campus and throughout the community.
Her office is located in Newman 207. Through her teaching, mentorship, and service, McNiece seeks to help students gain confidence, understand the practical value of their education, and prepare for meaningful lives and careers after graduation.
