We’re excited to welcome you to Howard Payne University’s growing esports community, where competitive gaming and Christian fellowship come together. Whether you’re drawn to high-level competition or simply enjoy playing with friends, you’ll find a variety of games and platforms that foster teamwork, skill development, and meaningful connections.

Our History

Howard Payne University launched its first esports program in the fall of 2020 with the opening of a dedicated lounge and club open to all interested students. The initiative began as a senior project by Computer Information Systems students and came to life through collaboration across multiple university departments during the summer.

The lounge features 12 high-performance workstations equipped with AKRacing gaming chairs and iBUYPOWER computers. Designed as both a competitive and social space, the coed club places no limit on participation at the club level, allowing students to compete individually or in teams of two to six players depending on the game.

Esports is looking for new members for our broadcast team. Whether you are looking to learn the technical side of streaming or wanting to showcase your casting skills on our student-led broadcast, Esports has a place for you!

Want to play?

Not interested in playing at the competitive level? Just in it for fun or don’t have the time to dedicate to competitive play? You can still be involved in Esports. Chat about your favorite games, play with your friends during Open Lounge or watch collegiate and professional matches streamed on the big screen.

Don your HPU Esports jersey and get ready to represent HPU in the digital arena!
Hone your skills and compete weekly against other collegiate teams during our regular seasons.
Earn an opportunity to compete in the post-season and possibly the National Championship.
Matches will be streamed on Twitch so your friends, family and peers can cheer you on wherever they are.
