Food pantry available to students

By Cailen Jenkins

College is expensive and so is food on a college budget. The HPU Food and Essentials Pantry is available to students to ensure basic grocery needs.

The food pantry is located at 1018 Fisk Street in Physical Plant room 101. It is open on the first Monday of every month. The hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

HPU Food & Essentials Pantry is staffed by volunteers from HPU’s Retired Employees Association, alumni, and others. Services of the food pantry are only offered to current HPU students.

The food pantry items are point based. Students are assigned points based on if they are a student with or without dependents. Each item in the food pantry is worth so many points. A student may not exceed the number of points they are assigned.

Donations are gladly accepted. Items that are needed are: canned food, toilet paper, laundry detergent, non-perishables, cereal, granola bars, canned soup.  Donations can be dropped off at the Office of Student Life.
