Sand Volleyball 2022 Intramurals

By Quentin Gray | Sand Volleyball Intramurals has kicked off and there is an electrifying tournament to keep an eye on this season. 

There are ten teams competing for this year’s title: Free Agents, No Diggity, The Blockbusters, Sandy Cheeks, Mission Unblockable, Red Shirts, Spike It We Ball, Michael and Friends, Gold Diggas, and Wonder Pets.

Brayden Rhea, a player for the team No Diggity, led his team to a 2-0 set match against the Blockbusters. Confident in himself and his teammates, Rhea said his team can prevail to the title using classic teamwork. 

The team Spike It We Ball secured the win in their match. Tyler Vaughn, Spike It We Ball team member, excelled at covering all ends of the court. 

The win earned by Vaughns’ team successfully placed them back into the number one spot. 

“I feel very confident in my team, if I have to move around, I’ll move around. But most of the time, I trust my teammates in their place,” said Vaughn.

Zac Sterling, the head of intramurals, is a heart over height type player. Sterling has a passion for sand volleyball.

 “I like how engaging it is for all students, with such a wide variety, it’s a great way to get plugged into the community,” said Sterling. 

Sterling plans to lead his team to leadership by,  “keeping team morale high and in the sky.”
