Super Bowl Sunday

By Karmen Turner | Super Bowl Sunday: the most watched day of television in the U.S. Many people around the world are ready for Super Bowl Sunday and are excitedly awaiting the game and the thrill of who will win the biggest title of the year.

This year’s line-up boasts the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. While some skeptics wonder how the Kansas City Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl, Eagles fans on the other hand have been ranked on top since the season started, finishing the season 14-3, with their  quarterback Jalen Hurts leading the way.

Howard Payne University students have their own opinions about who will win.

“The Eagles are going to win because of how explosive their offense is and how stingy the defense is,” said freshman Cameron Isaiah, social work major from Houston. Isaiah is a wide receiver for the HPU Yellow Jackets.

Teammate and junior Samuel Sims disagrees, though.

“The Kansas City Chiefs are going to win because of how much experience they have from being in the Super Bowl for the third time in four years,”  said Sims, a psychology major from Del Valle. Sims is a wide receiver for the HPU Yellow Jackets.

The team predicted to win is the Eagles. The Eagles have a 63% chance of winning and the Chiefs have a 36% chance of winning. The reason why the Eagles are so high to win is because of how good their passing game is and how explosive their run game can be whenever they need it.

HPU students can watch the game on Sunday, February 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Fambroughs. All students are encouraged to come watch the Chiefs take on the Eagles.

There will be appetizers, snacks and fun photo opportunities, all sponsored by the Student Activities Council and Genuine Ministries of Coggin Church.

Last year, over 100 students watched the game and the organizers are excited to host anyone who wants to attend.
