Howard Payne University’s BSN program earns 100 percent pass rate on NCLEX-RN

BROWNWOOD – April 29, 2026 – The Texas Board of Nursing confirmed the Howard Payne University (HPU) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program’s 2025 pass rate of 100 percent on the NCLEX-RN at its April 2026 board meeting.

The NCLEX-RN is the national standard for nursing licensure in the United States, designed to assess critical thinking, clinical judgment and the ability to provide safe and effective care. A perfect pass rate indicates that every graduate from the 2025 cohort demonstrated the competency required to enter professional practice.

This milestone reflects the program’s commitment to academic excellence, clinical preparedness and the development of highly competent, compassionate nurses ready to meet the demands of today’s healthcare environment and address the nursing shortage.

“This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our students, faculty and clinical partners,” said Dr. Laci Sutton, dean of the School of Nursing and assistant professor of nursing. “A 100% NCLEX pass rate is more than a number—it represents lives impacted, safe patient care and the strength of a program that prioritizes both knowledge and real-world readiness.”

The HPU BSN program has held national nursing accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education since 2020. Among many quality indicators for a nursing program’s success identified by the National Council State Board of Nursing, HPU boasts an NCLEX-RN pass rate that fulfills standards and aims to consistently meet those standards.

Applications for the next BSN program cohort are open until May 1. For more information about HPU’s nursing program, visit www.hputx.edu/nursing.
