Howard Payne University music faculty to present recital in Grace Chapel this Friday

BROWNWOOD – April 22, 2026 – Howard Payne University’s (HPU) School of Education and Fine arts will present a recital on Friday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Grace Chapel on HPU’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The lecture-recital is titled “Art of the Sonata” and will feature Dr. Jacob Skiles, assistant professor of piano and music theory, on the piano, and Stephen Goacher, professor of music, on the flute.

“The recital will take the audience through one of classical music’s most important music forms, the sonata, and explore how this music has changed across centuries of composition and performance,” Dr. Skiles said. “Please join us for an evening of music by Hadyn, Bonis and Rachmaninoff.”
