BROWNWOOD – October 12, 2022 – Howard Payne University has announced its 2022 Homecoming Court nominees. The students will be featured on a float during the Stinger Spectacular parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Later that day, the Homecoming Court will be crowned during halftime at HPU’s football game versus Southwestern University at Brownwood’s Gordon Wood Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
Homecoming King nominees are seniors Brandon Diaz, Jessie Paris and Jacob Ruiz. Queen nominees are seniors Monica Garza, Cynthia Montalvo and Zoe Sprayberry. Prince nominees are juniors Zeph Christian, Cyah Daniel and Samuel Pritchard. Princess nominees are juniors Madison Boggs, Megan Froese and Mitsue Rodriguez.
Homecoming King nominees
Brandon Diaz is a biomedical science major from Crosby. He is a member of Student Activities Council (SAC), is an honorary member of Delta Chi Rho, and is involved in Tri-Beta and HOSA-Future Health Professionals. He also works as an organic chemistry lab assistant and is an intern for the college ministry at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Jessie Paris is a history major and education minor from Splendora and is a member of HPU’s football team.
Jacob Ruiz is a criminal justice major and youth ministry minor from Brownwood. He is president of Delta Epsilon Omega, is a member of the BSM Lead Team, serves as a youth intern at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and works in the HPU Stinger Store.
Homecoming Queen nominees
Monica Garza is an elementary education major from Lampasas. She is a Sumners Scholar and works for the Office of University Services. She is a member of the HPU volleyball team, Gamma Beta Phi and Delta Chi Rho.
Cynthia Montalvo of Bossier City, Louisiana, is a biomedical science and Guy D. Newman Honors Academy major. She is the president of Delta Chi Rho, treasurer for Gamma Beta Phi, chaplain for Tri-Beta and a member of SAC and HOSA-Future Health Professionals. She is a student worker in the Office of University Marketing and Communications and an intern for the college ministry at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Zoe Sprayberry is a math education and Christian education major from Bonham. She is a member of HPU’s tennis team, Chapel Band and the Ministerial Alliance and is an honorary member of Delta Chi Rho. She is also a member of the BSM Lead Team, helps with A.W.A.N.A. at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and is an NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative.
Homecoming Prince nominees
Zeph Christian is a political science major from Comanche. He is a resident assistant for Jennings Hall and a member of Gamma Beta Phi. He is also involved in intramurals on campus.
Cyah Daniel is a political/global studies and Guy D. Newman Honors Academy major from Doha, Qatar. He is also a member of HPU’s baseball team.
Samuel Pritchard is a youth ministry major and psychology minor from Richmond. He is an officer for the Ministerial Alliance and a student worker for the School of Christian Studies.
Homecoming Princess nominees
Madison Boggs of Cypress is a psychology major minoring in criminal justice and Spanish. She is a Sumners Scholar, an executive officer for Pi Theta Chi and a student worker for the Office of Advancement and the HPU Stinger Store. She serves at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church as a youth ministry small group leader and sings in the worship band for the college ministry.
Megan Froese is a middle school education major from Rising Star. She is a resident assistant for Veda Hodge Hall and is involved in intramurals. She is also a student worker in the Office of Human Resources.
Mitsue Rodriguez is a kinesiology major from San Antonio. She is student body president and a member of HPU’s volleyball team. She also works for HPU’s mailroom and copy center.
