HPU students pray at remembrance event for those affected by 9/11 tragedies

BROWNWOOD – September 11, 2015 – Several Howard Payne University students prayed and reflected on the events of September 11, 2001, during a remembrance event hosted on campus Friday by the Student Government Association. Students were invited to place American flags in the ground near the university’s Bell Towers.

Mike McConnell, SGA president, said students in SGA believe prayer is the strongest form of patriotism.

“We’re glad that we were able to create an event that emphasizes the importance of spiritual strength in the face of adversity and hope that students remember to spend time praying for all those personally affected by the 9/11 tragedies, as well as thanking God for His faithfulness,” said McConnell.
