Sun shines on the front of L.J. Mims Auditorium on HPU's CampusBROWNWOOD – February 26, 2024 – The Howard Payne University Symphonic Band and the Central Texas Community Band will combine forces to present “Rhythm in Motion,” a concert experience featuring dance music from a variety of world cultures. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, in HPU’s Mims Auditorium. The public is invited and admission is free.

Both groups are under the direction of HPU’s Dr. Jonathan M. Kraemer, director of bands and assistant professor of music.

“World cultures have so much to teach us when it comes to rhythm, harmony and musical styles,” Dr. Kraemer said. “When I originally envisioned this concert, my goal was for it to be fun for the audience as well as the performers. To that end, the program is full of memorable melodies and toe-tapping grooves. I know you will enjoy it as much as we have putting it together.”
