HPU to collect donations for West disaster relief

BROWNWOOD – April 18, 2013 – In light of the recent tragedy in West, Texas, Howard Payne University students, faculty and staff are uniting with the surrounding communities to aid in relief efforts. Donations will be collected through Monday morning, April 22, at the university’s Office of Admission (adjacent to the Mabee University Center) before being delivered to West on Monday afternoon.

According to news reports and relief efforts, pallets of water have already been given by many companies and are not currently needed. Requested items include other basic necessities such as diapers in all sizes, baby food, toys, clothing ranging from children to adult sizes, canned food, toiletries and anything else that might be needed in the relief efforts.

If you wish to donate financially, please contact Stephen Sullivan, HPU admission counselor, at (325) 649-8026. Donations of money and gift cards will be accepted on behalf of Texas Baptist Disaster Recovery. Checks should be made payable to Texas Baptists. All donations collected will go directly to the West relief efforts and are not considered donations to the university.
