BROWNWOOD – April 25, 2018 – Howard Payne University’s chapter of the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society recently inducted six new members into its organization. Emily Crawford, Brownwood city manager, was the distinguished guest speaker for the event and 2017 HPU graduate and Sigma Beta Delta member Ryan Mason inducted the new members.
Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest national recognition a business student can receive at a college or university. This year’s inductees were Angela Lee Curtis, senior from Brownwood; Madelyn Joy Deviney, senior from Bulverde; Dayane Gutierrez, junior from Haltom City; Djimonii Jackson, senior from Beaumont; Abner Abdia Reyes, senior from Irving; and Nicole Elizabeth (Ferrell) Willett, senior from Brownwood.
“We are honored to add these highly qualified students to the Sigma Beta Delta National Business Honor Society family,” said Dr. Debra Powell, chapter president and associate professor of business. “They have demonstrated excellent academic and life skills while attending Howard Payne University.”
Sigma Beta Delta, International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration, installed its first chapter in 1994 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Through March 2012, Sigma Beta Delta has installed over 395 chapters and over 70,000 members. HPU’s chapter received its charter in 1999.
In addition to Dr. Powell, chapter officers include Dr. Jim Finch, chapter vice president and professor of business administration; and Mike Dillard, secretary/treasurer and assistant professor of business administration.
